Different Types of Line

I used contour lines in outlining some of the food (need to finish small details on some items and the bowl/yellow lines) as well as a few hatching/cross-hatching lines in the seaweed bits by the chopsticks.

Spilled Miso - Acrylic and Ink on mixed media paper 9x11
For this piece I chose to use weighted lines, to show off the heaviness towards the bottom of the bowl and spilled contents. I also decided to use a geometric 90's print pattern in the background for another use of line. I wanted to use a sort of red monochromatic color scheme, showing different shades of red or pink, and the brown of the bowl I thought complimented that very well.

Sailor Pluto - acrylic on canvas - 16x20 Sailor Mercury - acrylic on canvas - 16x20 I wanted to make two pieces that went kind of reflected one another that also went well with past pieces I've done style wise and idea wise. I went with characters from Sailor Moon again, choosing Sailor Mercury and Sailor Pluto since they are some of my favorites. I wanted to do a more casual style with their appearances and use the same painting style I did with my noodle series. The way I chose my colors was for the background to be a lighter shade of the hair color, and for the print, in the background, it would reflect the color of the earring. For the clothes, I wanted to use a color that went well with the background and keep the design minimalistic. I wanted to keep it simple with a few small details. I do plan on going back and touching up the Pluto one, adding some finishing touches and probably adding more to this series.

Transformation Brooch - 9x12 - watercolor, acrylic, mixed media paper Crystal Star - 9x12 - watercolor, acrylic, mixed media paper Cosmo Heart - 9x12 - watercolor, acrylic, mixed media paper Crisis Heart - 9x12 - watercolor, acrylic, mixed media paper For this series of change, I decided to manipulate it by changing one part of the same piece four times. I wanted to show the transformation sequence from Sailor Moon, and change her brooch since it changes throughout the series. I started out by making the main piece, showing the central part of the transformation with all of the ribbon coming from the center. I then made the brooches on a separate paper with watercolor and acrylic and then cut them out, placing them on top of the same piece. The watercolor I used has a glitter shimmer in it which can be seen in some areas of the piece.

Shoyu - Acrylic and Ink on mixed media paper 9x11 For this piece, I decided to use organic line and I did that by using a continuous line starting from the egg and working my way around the rest of the bowl. I chose to do a secondary color scheme or purple, green, and orange for the bowl and background as well as the chopsticks.  Cup Noodles - Acrylic and Ink on mixed media paper 9x11 For this last piece, I chose to go more minimalistic. The background is a geometric line grid and I kept it just black and white to be simple. For the cup of noodles itself, I chose to add some decorative line in it and also use a cool color scheme of blues and greens. I cut out the cup of noodles and set it on top of the background so if I choose to change the position, later on, I can, or put it on top of a different background.
